What is Sentence Mining?
Sentence mining is a method of learning languages through pattern recognition.
By going through real life examples of sentences in context, we should be able to recognise grammar structures, word order and vocabulary without having to directly learn them from a textbook.
Where do we find sentences?
Sentences are gathered through immersion in the language.
This can consist of:
Reading books / news articles
Watching videos / TV / movies
Listening to podcasts / audiobooks
**From experience, watching videos is probably the most accessible since it uses a combination of the 3 forms of immersion (seeing, listening and reading)

Example:
"Long story, short..." [to tell something briefly / to summarise]

By experiencing the phrase in multiple situations, you should be able to gain an understanding of how it is used and, over time, be able to use it as part of your vocabulary.
This applies to idioms, phrases, vocabulary and sentence structures!
What do we do with them?
Once you experience the language, you can note it down or use and SRS application to keep track of new sentences (refer to previous post: https://shinsevi20.wixsite.com/website/post/learning-english-using-srs-s-spaced-repitition-systems )
Is this for everyone?
This method is for people who want a more engaging experience in their English studies and feel a halt in their progress, from traditional learning methods.
Sentence mining can be exciting and gives students a look at the culture of the language they are learning!
When added with the benefits of an SRS, an accessible learning process can be set-up to progress in your English studies.
Where to start?
Set yourself a simple goal, such as: "5 sentences per week".
Over time, the number of sentences will grow. (5 sentences a week; 20 a month, 260 a year)
Test yourself on these sentences regularly.
With an SRS app, this process should take less than 20 minutes per day.
[*the amount of sentences can be adjusted to your life-style]
